LED Step Lights Provide Additional Safety

It is especially important to light stairways if you have young children, elderly folk or otherwise incapacitated family members living with you. While there have been many different options for lighting stairways, the introduction of LED lighting has made the job of lighting stairs easier and much more economical as well.

Types of LED Step Lights

There are a wide variety of LED step lights from which to choose. Indoor lights are to be used on inner stairways, such as those connecting upper and lower levels, basement stairs or attic stairs. Typically, these are battery powered.
Some lights are push operated- a round plastic cover is pushed like a button and then turns the light on inside. It's as easy as lightly stepping on them! Every type provides bright and clear light- perfect for lighting steps. They are energy efficient and environmentally friendly. An LED step light provides just the right amount of light- perfect for maintaining a mood while still providing safety.

Other types of lights are designed to be added to the underside of each step. These often need to be connected by thin electrical wiring which needs to be run under the bottom of the step and then up the side of the wall. These types of lights usually need to be plugged into an electrical outlet.

While many people are satisfied with the regular type of lights, ones that glow gently all night, giving enough light to satisfactorily illuminate the entire stairway, some people choose lights with additional features. For example, many LED stair lights are movement sensitive.
Reasons why people choose this type of light vary. In some instances, step lights that are on all the time can shine into rooms and disturb the sleep of others. Brightly lit stairways can also affect the overall ambiance of a room, especially if the use of lighting in a room is an important part of the room’s overall décor. While it can also conserve electricity to have the lights shine only when someone is going up or down stairs, in truth the amount of energy saved is so minimal it is rarely a genuine concern.
There are other special features that you may find useful. Some lights can be programmed to light in time with music. Others can be programmed to change colors, similar to how colored lights on a Christmas tree can alternate colors.
